After graduating from the Department of Agricultural Engineering at National Taiwan University, Professor Tong went to the United States to study Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University. After obtaining a master's and doctoral degree, he has been teaching at his alma mater since 1996.

The main research areas include (i) ESG sustainable governance, (ii) climate change risk assessment and response, (iii) environmental system analysis, (iv) integrated watershed management, (v) life cycle analysis and (vi) sustainable supply chain management.

A PhD from National Taiwan University and an expert in industry sustainability education and training and practical talent development, he has focused in recent years on corporate sustainability transformation issues such as carbon emission calculation, cost management, process carbon reduction, and industry chain connection, and has gone deep into industry sites to assist in the major adjustments required for sustainable development.

The practical experience of tutoring covers a wide range of manufacturing industries including metal, pharmaceutical, plastic, semiconductor, and consumer industries.
